After a great battle on Saturday for the first round of Asian Formula Renault Series, the drivers were ready for round two on the last day of Pan Delta Super Racing Festival, with Maxx Ebenal starting on pole.
Red lights off and it was a close fight to the first corner with Maxx Ebenal and Darma Hutomo side by side all the way to turn four when Hutomo, from ART Racing Team overshot the braking point, hitting KCMG driver Dan Wells and leaving the track, unfortunately retiring from the race.
With a damaged front wing Dan Wells was forced to pit under the safety car that was deployed after two cars spun at turn 9 and turn 14. By this stage Garnet Patterson, driving the second KCMG car was in the lead with BlackArts Racing’s Ebenal and Pu Jun Jin from ART quickly closing the gap.
After the race restart Maxx Ebenal made a perfect passing move under braking at turn 4 to pass race leader Patterson. This made Garnet go wide leaving a gap for Pu Jun Jin to take advantage and secure second place.
Garnet wasn’t going to settle for third and took back second place from Pu at turn 12 on the same lap. A desperate move by Pu Jun Jin on the inside of Garnet at turn 4 forced him off the track, leaving the battle down to Patterson and Ebenal.
Garnet was hot on the heels of Maxx, foxing at every opportunity but unable to make a passing move stick, enabling Maxx Ebenal to win round two of the 2015 Asian Formula Renault Series just 0.281s in front of Garnet Patterson. Ni Weiliang from ART Racing secured third position.
In Class B Markus Engel from PS Racing Team was able unable to catch winner Andy Zheng from Team KRC, with Thomas Swift taking third spot.
