A celebratory atmosphere filled the PETRONAS Twin Towers on Monday as PETRONAS, Principle and Title partner to the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ (MAMGP) Team celebrated the team’s third consecutive FIA Formula One World Constructors Championships secured at the 2016 Formula One Emirates Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday.
With four races to spare, the Malaysian/United Kingdom/German outfit sealed the 2016 FIA Formula One World Constructors Championship after Nico Rosberg won the Japan’s Formula One race over the weekend, while teammate Lewis Hamilton finished third, extending the team’s championship lead to a whopping 593 points.

To mark this historic achievement, 600 PETRONAS staff and management gathered for a group photo shoot to celebrate the victory and express their congratulations to the team.
“Congratulations to the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ (MAMGP) Team, we are world champions again!” Said Petronas President and Group CEODatuk Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin. “PETRONAS is indeed proud to be the Principal and Title Partner of one of the world’s leading car brands, and to contribute to the team’s success for three consecutive years. To my PETRONAS team across the globe who have worked very hard to develop this winning formula, I thank you for your relentless dedication in delivering this shared success.”
“What initially started as an effort to give the PETRONAS brand global recognition has grown into a world scale business venture, and highly technical R&D efforts that we can proudly call our own. By embracing PETRONAS’ Shared Values and with the spirit of break- through thinking, perseverance and drive for excellence, we can now proudly say that PETRONAS’ fuel and lubricants have been powering the World’s Formula One Champions. This is another Malaysian success that we can all be proud of.”
Toto Wolff, Head of Mercedes-Benz Motorsports was instrumental in the teams successes, adding: “Every single member of the MAMGP Team is deeply proud to have achieved The Triple with our partners and friends at PETRONAS. It is a first for Malaysia in Formula One and a first for Mercedes-Benz in over 100 years of motorsport competition. Our victory has only been made possible with the determined innovation and world-class technology of our colleagues at PETRONAS, who have constantly pushed the boundaries of what is possible in order to keep improving our performance on track. Our achievements in this Hybrid era of the sport are the very definition of shared success.”
“Working hand in hand, PETRONAS and Mercedes-Benz have set new benchmarks in performance which will now become the standards we aspire to surpass together in future seasons. To every single one of over 51,000 PETRONAS employees worldwide, I simply say on the behalf of every team member: thank you. We can now enjoy the final four races of a special season and an intense conclusion to the battle for the drivers’ championship.”
