Weiron Tan today announced that, due to unforeseen circumstances, he will cease his 2016 Pro Mazda Championship campaign with immediate effect.

This year saw Weiron enter the Road to Indy programme for the second consecutive season. During his time in Pro Mazda and the Pro Mazda WinterFest championships, he scored eight pole positions, six race victories and six further podiums. He finished Vice Champion in the 2015 Pro Mazda WinterFest and fourth in the standings of the 2015 Pro Mazda Championship.

Weiron Tan: “I am sad to announce that I will no longer continue my season in the Pro Mazda Championship. Obviously I am shocked and disappointed that I can’t race at the moment, however my agent and I are working to figure out a solution and hopefully get me back in a car in the near future. I have no intentions of giving up, and I believe the future will hold something greater. I wish Team Pelfrey the best of luck for the rest of the season.”
