Hong Kong racing driver Dan Wells took two pole positions, fastest laps and victories in Rounds 11 and 12 of the 2015 Asian Formula Renault Championship at the Shanghai International Circuit on October 10/11, winning the Championship trophy in the process.

Testing for the event had gone well, with Dan topping all sessions before the start of Official Practice on the Saturday, which he topped by over a second. Wells then took both pole positions by 1s and 1.25s respectively.

Race one commenced on the Sunday morning and an emphatic performance from Wells saw him pull an extraordinary 17 second lead by the end of the 10 lap race, demonstrating his dominance of the Championship.

Race 2 was run in the afternoon, with Dan comfortably leading until a red flag on lap 7 for an incident on track which caused the race to be halted. The race was then restarted for a two lap dash to the flag which saw him lead home competitor Maxx Ebenal by 3.5 seconds.

“It has been another fantastic weekend with the BlackArts Racing by KCMG team”, Wells commented. “I want to say a big thank you to my engineer Maarten, driver coach Gary Thompson and team manager John O’Hara for giving me such great support all year long, Bill O’Brien and everyone at BlackArts Racing for the support, and also to Paul Ip of KCMG for the opportunity to win the drivers and team’s Championship. It really has been a very special year.”

As a prize for winning the Championship, Dan has been invited by Renault Sport to test the high performance World Series By Renault car at Motorland Aragon in Spain on November 4th. Interested sponsors please get in touch in order to back Dan to reach the next level in his career.
