Pinnacle Motorsport is looking forward to the 2018 FIA F4 Chinese Championship as the team confirm its entry with Jordan Dempsey from Ireland. The 18-year-old driver is set make his debut in the junior single-seater series on June 2-3 at the Zhuhai International Circuit (ZIC).
Dempsey is the 2017 Motorsport Ireland Young Driver of the Year. He began his motorsport career in karting before moving up to the Ginetta Junior Ireland. After winning the championship in 2015, he spent several seasons competing in Formula Ford. This will be his first time racing in Asia and will compete in the remaining five events of the FIA F4 Chinese Championship’s 2018 calendar.
“I’m looking forward to working with Pinnacle Motorsport and see what we can achieve in the F4 Chinese Championship,” said Jordan. “It’s a new car to me so so I’ll be working hard with the team to get the most out of it right away at Zhuhai. Thanks to John O’Hara and the team for taking me on for this year and thanks to all of my supporters Digital Planet, Motorsport Ireland, Sport Ireland, Beta Tools, and Team Ireland along with my dad and my family for all of their help and support.”
Powered by a naturally aspirated 2.0L engine from Geely, the FIA F4 Chinese Championship utilizes a carbon-fibre monocoque chassis from French manufacturer Mygale. It is equipped with a six-speed gearbox with paddle shifts and weighs 630 kg in total. The 2018 season has six rounds on schedule with three races per event visiting the Ningbo International Circuit, Zhuhai International Circuit, Chengdu International Circuit, and Shanghai International Circuit.
The upcoming second event in Zhuhai will feature Qualifying followed by three 16-lap races over the race weekend.
