Promising Test Days for Absolute Racing at Shanghai

Absolute Racing serviced teams successfully completed the three testing days at Shanghai International Circuit, in what was the opening event of 2019 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia.

Fabien Fior (Team Manager): “We are really happy to be working again this year with Team StarChase, Zheng Tong Auto and Bunjong Motorsports. I think we have a great driver line-up, with a strong team behind them. Our eye is firmly on the Overall title fight but we will also be going all out to take the Pro-Am class title once again. We’ve been very focussed on our own preparation and performance over these past three days, but the lap times show we are working in the right direction. We did a lot of work on set-up and tried several things so in the end it has been worthwhile. We look forward to the first race of the season.”

Team StarChase, Bunjong Motorsports and Zheng Tong Auto drivers hit the asphalt of the Hermann Tilke designed Shanghai International Circuit, acquiring a lot of data useful for the season and crucial in making the final preparations for the first race of the season next month.

Philip Hamprecht placed the #99 Team StarChase Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 991 II) at the top of the timesheets on first two days. The German driver, who recorded the second best combined time in this test, was not able to improve Saturday’s best lap time but made a very good impression in terms of both pace and speed.

Tanart Sathienthirakul, who is now racing under the #15 Bunjong Motorsports entry, ended up in the top five on the overall timesheets after three days. The Thai driver will be one of the men to watch in the battle for the podium places.

A new year brings a new livery for the Pro-Am champions: Zheng Tong Auto and Bao Jinlong. In the Pro-Am class, the Chinese driver ended up fastest over the three days of testing, showing his potential as well as what the #55 Zheng Tong Auto Porsche 911 GT3 Cup is capable of.

The #88 Absolute Racing entry didn’t take part in the official test days but the team is working behind the scenes to get this car on the grid for the opening round of the season.

The 2019 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia season opener takes place at Absolute Racing’s local track, Shanghai on April 13/14.
